Cacao Bar in Amsterdam
Welcome to our Cacao Bar in Amsterdam, where you can enjoy the benefits of ceremonial cacao in the heart of the city. At the Cacao Bar, we serve different delicious drinks and have changing surprises. All the cacao drinks are made with our 100% pure ceremonial cacao that is personally sourced from the farm. Whether you're looking for a cacao latte, ceremonial cacao drink, or want to experience a cacao ceremony, our cacao bar offers a sanctuary in the city to relax, connect and escape the urban jungle.
Traveling through Amsterdam
Our Cacao Bar traveled around since we opened in 2018. We started as a pop-up location at Westergas in Amsterdam, later moved to the Haarlemmerdijk, before settling on De Clercqstraat in a beautiful collaboration with Mahara.
In our first years, ceremonial cacao was new to most people and most of our conversations were about how it is different from chocolate milk and the benefits of pure cacao. We really enjoyed the open interest in cacao and our personal sourcing. And it is still a lot of fun when people discover pure cacao drinks or lose track of time and stay around for hours after dropping in out of curiosity.

Collaboration with Mahara
Michelle and Erik worked on all kinds of delicious cacao projects, events, recipes and all that joy. We are very grateful to have nested our cacao bar in Mahara in Amsterdam West, with an extended location in Zutphen. The lush garden has a beautiful yurt that is used for cacao ceremonies, community events and meditation. The living room of Mahara is a sanctuary in the city that is the perfect place to retreat, meet kind people and stick around for as long as you like.
What We Serve
In the Cacao Bar you can always request different kinds of recipes that you like. We mostly serve:
- Cacao Latte or Cacaoccino: We pour foamed oat milk over a cacao shot and finish it with delicious spices.
- Cacao Shot: The espresso version of cacao, a smaller and thicker cacao drink made pure on water.
- Ceremonial Cacao Drink: A higher dose of cacao, let us know if you prefer pure on water or with oat milk.
- Iced Cacao: A special in hot summer days in the green and lush garden.
- Cacao with Medicinal Mushrooms: Enhanced with functional mushrooms like our cacao heart or mushroom extracts.
- All kinds of changing delicious and healthy snacks. Sometimes there is soup, especially at community events or music nights.
Cacao Ceremonies & Events
In addition to the café for serving cacao drinks, there are different events like cacao ceremonies, women or men circles, music nights, etc. For a cacao ceremony you can check in directly with Michelle to see what is planned or to host one for you and friends.
