LIMITED EDITION - micro batch

National cacao from Ecuador

This beautiful and soft cacao grows in the Los Rios area in Ecuador. What makes this cacao unique is that it is a variety that has been practically lost, but propagated from a research project to preserve old flavors. The village close to where the cacao grows is called Amazu and the locals call this cacao also Amazu.

It grows in a healthy organic environment with many plants and trees, just to name a few: Guayacan, Teca, Balsa, Macadamia, bambú, Avocado, plantain, gros michel banana, coconut palms, pineapples, tahiti lemons, mango, cinnamon, amazonic cinnamon, guava machete, cassava, and chili.

Organically grown in Los Rios, Ecuador
Taste notes: fruity, floral and nutty (typical for Arriba National Cacao)

As the Ecuadorian government funded a program to grow the resistant (but much less interesting) CN51 cacao type, most fine flavor National cacao was lost. It was a time that farms where dealing with the monilla disease that destroyed many plantations.

This old variety has been kind of forgotten and we're extra excited to be able to offer this cacao for delicious ceremonial cacao drinks.

The cacao is organically certified, but we are not allowed to put this on our packaging because the last step to you is not audited by organic certification consultants.

Hemels.

Warme groet!

Gentle & Soft

The taste of this cacao is gentle, soft, and light. If you usually find cacao a bit “heavy” in flavor or in how it feels in your stomach, this one might be a good fit! While drinking it, I could feel that same gentleness arise in my body—like being wrapped in a soft, cozy blanket 🌸

if you like to take cacao on the go or while traveling, this one is ideal. It melts quickly and smoothly—even just hot water will be enough to melt it and create a yummy, comforting cup 🤎

Hey Lenette, that is so nice to hear, thank you for sharing, it's really dear to us to hear such a beautiful experience :). Also it is indeed a very practical to take the cacao flakes on your travels! Big cacao hug from us!
