Acriollado cacao from Cahabón

Five years ago I visited the Cahabón region and since then we played with the idea to source cacao from there. Now we finally did and offer it as our first Special Limited Edition, as we only have a limited stock (also why we only have a 450gr option).

This cacao is grown by Mayan Q’eqchi small-scale farmers. With a rich history of many generations of traditional agricultural knowledge and connection to the land. Locally this cacao variety is known as Acriollado, a natural blend of Criollo and Trinitario that has evolved over decades into a unique genetic mix.

We love it how the roots of this cacao date back to traditional Mayan cultivation and is still cultivated today by indigenous Mayan Q'eqchi farmers.

Organically grown in the Cahabón region, Guatemala.
Taste notes: full bodied, nutty chocolate, blackcurrant and berry fruity notes, soft warm aftertaste. Very nice to drink pure on water base and delicious in other recipes.

Shaped in 100% pure cacao coins or drops (instead of flakes, but same ease of use).

Ideas to enjoy:
- 100% pure drink.
- in a ceremony or ritual.
- with spices like cardamom, cinnamon and cayenne.
- delicious to use during work or to share with friends.
- you get the best frothy result by blending it with a frother, blender or shaker.
