Cacao is a never ending source of aromas that you can play with and that’s exactly what we love to do!
This recipe resulted in a comforting drink with chocolaty notes, a soothing taste & effect that invites you to slow down and appreciate the moment.
Ingredients (for one serving):
- 100ml water + 100ml coconut milk
- 1 tsp coconut oil (for extra smoothness and healthy fats)
- 15-25g pure cacao (we love our Matagalpa cacao for this recipe)
- A pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for a subtle warming kick)
Instructions:
- Heat your liquids: Gently warm 100ml of water and 100ml of coconut milk together until hot to touch (around 70-80°C). Avoid boiling.
- Add coconut oil: Stir in 1 tsp of coconut oil for a silky texture and added richness.
- Mix in the cacao: Add 15-25g of pure cacao flakes or paste. Start with a smaller dose for a lighter experience, or go for 25g for a deeper feel.
- Sprinkle cayenne: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper if you enjoy a gentle warming sensation that complements the cacao beautifully.
- Blend or froth: Use a cacao frother, whisk, or blender to mix your drink into a creamy, frothy beverage. Blend for about 7 seconds for the best results.
- Serve with intention: Pour into your favorite cup, take a deep breath, and enjoy this moment of pure nourishment.
Why We Love This Recipe:
The combination of coconut and cacao creates a tropical, grounding experience. Coconut oil and milk provide healthy fats that help your body absorb the beneficial compounds in cacao, while the natural theobromine offers gentle, sustained energy without the jitters of coffee.
This recipe embodies what we love about ceremonial cacao: it's nourishing, delicious, and creates a moment to pause and connect with yourself.
