This small but mighty cacao shot is perfect for sharing at dinner with friends. Thick, spicy, and rich in flavor with warming vanilla and fiery cayenne. The goal is a concentrated cacao drink that is intensely thick and deeply satisfying.
Ingredients per serving
- 15g Cusco cacao (this is our favorite one with its fruity tones)
- 60ml hot water (80-90°C)
- Vanilla seeds or vanilla extract
- Cayenne or chili (it's a small drink so it can be quite spicy, but be aware 🌶️)
- Sweetener to taste like maple syrup, agave, or cane sugar (this makes it a bit less intense and works better at a dinner table in our experience)
Preparation
- Mix all ingredients in a blender or with a handheld mixer/frother until thick and frothy. 🌪️
- Pour the thick, frothy drink into nice small cups. Tip: egg cups can have a good size for this recipe.
- Enjoy the night!!
Tips for Your Cacao Shot
- Start with less cayenne and adjust to your spice tolerance
- Use a cacao frother or a blender for the best texture and foam
- Serve in beautiful small cups
